Learn how to ply-split braid while making beautiful decorative Christmas stars.

Ply split braiding is an ancient weaving technique which has been revived and modernised. It’s a versatile craft which can be used to create straps, jewellery, baskets and 3D objects. No experience is necessary for this class. Participants will learn the ply-split technique of Single Course oblique Twining (SCoT). Special highly twisted cords are necessary for ply-splitting. We will have the equipment on hand so that students can learn to wind their own cords. Samples of a variety of items made with the technique will be on display.

No ply-splitting experience is necessary. This class is suitable for beginners.

Detailed pattern and notes will be supplied.

Handmade pre wound cords to make Christmas stars in a range of colours and fibres will be provided.

Now retired on their farm in North East Victoria, Jill and her husband Dave make handcrafted textile tools from local or repurposed timber and cattlebone.
