SS11A Ply Split Braiding for Beginners - Guild
Summer School at the Guild
An introduction to the techniques of Ply Split Braiding including how to make the special cords. Ply splitting originated in India for making decorative camel harness. It has spread to the rest of the world as a way to make strong yet light decorative bands for many uses including bag and guitar straps, hat bands and jewellery as well as 3D vessels.
Marilla has worked with textiles all her life, creating clothing, jewellery, and household items. She has a fascination with knots and braiding and finds the varied options offered by ply splitting to be an excellent creative outlet.
If COVID-19 restrictions are increased and the Guild must close this class will be presented online.
