Description

Early Bird Bookings finish on 1st December, 2019

Native American finger weaving is a proud tradition for many North American indigenous groups. From the intricate ceintures fléchées (arrow sashes) of Canada, to the innovative weaves of Peru, finger weaving has endured through the age of industrialized textiles and is still practiced today.

This course will lay the groundwork for this highly portable and inexpensive craft which is capable of producing complex and beautiful designs with little more than fingers and fibre.

Your tutor Patrick is a self-described fibre wolf. He hunts down and learns techniques that nurture his love for the fibre arts.

As a backstrap weaver, Patrick enjoys creating fabric with tools that enhance rather than reduce the connection between artist and fibre. Finger weaving provides a very close relationship with fibre and a meditative calm in its manipulation.
