Description

This long-established course provides an excellent grounding in 4 shaft weaving for students who have completed an Introduction to weaving course, or have some 4 shaft weaving experience. 

  • Excellent Tuition in 4 Shaft Weaving covering traditional structures and contemporary applications.
  • Colour Theory as applied to Woven Cloth Design
  • Experience combining yarns, altering setts and appropriately finishing fabrics.
  • A combination of thorough weave theory, practical design skills and experimental approaches.
  • Students finish up with a comprehensive folio of samples illustrating their competence in weaving 
  • Assessment includes Woven Samples 50% and a Technical Folio 50%.
  • Looms may be hired from the Guild.
  • Please note that this course does not carry accreditation, however you are asked to undertake genuine commitment to completion of all topics.
  • Dates/Time: 12 x Monthly Sundays, 9.30am - 4.30pm

    2020:  February 2, March 1, April 5, May 3, June 28, July 26, August 30.

    General $1900 / Members $1800 (Enquire at the guild to become a member)
    Payable by deposit ($700 general / $600  members) via this page to secure your place and then complete  8 monthly instalments $150.00 commencing in August 2019  through the Hand Weavers & Spinners Guild office.

Appropriate for

Those who have completed an Introduction to weaving course, or have some 4 shaft weaving experience. The ability to wind a warp, dress a loom and weave tabby and basic twills is required before commencing the certificate.


Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellations and refunds

The Guild reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient numbers. If we cancel the workshop you will be notified and will be issued with a 100% refund.

If you decide to withdraw 7 or more days prior to the workshop/course date the Guild will retain a 10% administration fee.

If you decide to withdraw less than 7 days before the workshop/course date the Guild will retain 100% of your workshop fee.
